What do you recommend in material for A+

By dfra ·
I am an older gent and have been self reading and working for various small companies to acquire PC/MAC support skills.

Taken classes on NT4 Server/Wkstn, Novel SysAdmin/AdvSysAdmin, Networking Fundamentals(Novel and MS).

I do not wish to pursue further networking certs.I have an MCP NT wkstn, CNA Novel 4.1, small company sponsored certs for PC UPgrade and repair.

I have chosen this route to gain some experience in OS, application support and Networking with the intent of eventually working for the School District.

Recently I got a position with the School District of teaching Computer repair/upgrade/troublshooting-HW&SW, MS applications use, Web Design(html, some Javascript).

The one condition is I become A+ Certified.

There are so many books to choose from- Sybase, Riders, Dummies, and I hear Cisco has put out a 2 book series also.

With all your "gurus" which would be the best/most appropriate book to accomplish this cert?
TIA,

If you are seeking the A+ Certification, you may want to look at the COMP TIA web site to get reference to the new exam that will become active at the end of January,so this would make it impossible to refer you to any material that may cover the newexam.Hope this helps and good luck

The Exam Cram series is a pretty good self-study guide for almost every test out there. Check the website for further info - www.examcram.com

My choice (and might I add, the ONE book that gave me the most for my money) Michael Meyers A+ Certification All-In-One Exam Guide. Can be found at any Borders book store. Also, check out Total Seminars.com - founded by the same author. He is upto date with the current testing platform. This book also makes great reference material, and our college is currently using it as the textbook for their computer hardware repair courses.
