What is a good backup software for a single machine?

By SRC-Brian ·
My boss wants me to look for a new backup software for his machine. He had Novastor and it caused problems in his registry. He also already has Norton Ghost backing up to a network drive. The new program has to be able to backup to a tape media. His machine is a Windows XP Pro w/ SP2. There are a lot of programs out there, I would rather get a good recommendation, than just buy something I've never used before.

Thanks,

-Brian

I like Veritas

We use the Veritas to back up out servers, and I like that software. However that program isn't really made for backing up one non-server machine. I also don't like to use the things that come with Windows. Other companies make much better programs than Microsoft.

In most cases I would agree.

However the MS backup is actually quite reliable these days. I know, that's quite a shock.

Backup the PC to the server and let the server take the image to tape.

Otherwise you will want to go with something like Ultrabac to get the job done.

Good luck
