Here’s my lab:
A brand new Dell Poweredge 2500 RAID 5 Ultra 160 equipped server and a brand new Dell WS530 (also Ultra 160 equipped). Both with Intel Pro1000 fiber NICs to a Cisco 3500 switch.
128MB worth of files (10 files total selected solelyfor their large size) xfers in about 9 secs across a share. That’s only about 14MB per sec. Is that the best I can expect from Gig Ethernet? Comments appreciated. Tim
