What is file extension ".mbk" ?

By LuckyLeatherneck ·
A client sent me a CD with files containing his accounts to process. Usually these clients send text or spreadsheet files, but this one sent files with file extension of ".mbk". At first, I thought it may be ACCESS but that dog didn't even bark.

Anyone got an idea of what the heck creates or saves files as ".mbk"?

Thank you.

Lloyd

Have a look here

http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=MBK

looks like its some kind of back up file for an application starting with "m".

Yep. It turned out to be a backup of a proprietary application software product and without having that application the files were useless.
Thanks.

.mbk is most likely a dBASE IV multiple index file backup but can also be a VersaPro Motion Block Backup.
Also (but not likely) an Atari file

Thanks for your help but it turned out to be a dead-end file. Customer sent a backup from a proprietary product, which can only be used with that product.
Thank you.
