What is my current service pack?

    Locked

    by barryvg ·

We have a NW5.0 server with 5 user licenses. We also have an additional 5 licenses to add-on, however, all attempts to load these have failed. We think that perhaps reloading the current service pack, or the next one may help the situation. However, since neither of our IT folks have NW5 training, haven’t been able to determine what level service pack is currently running. Any suggestions?

I couldn’t get access to a NW5 server to verify this, but try running NWCONFIG at the server, select “product options”, then “View/configure/Remove installed products”.
If that doesn’t help, standard installation of a service pack should create a directory structure on your Sys volume of “NW5SPX”. While this is not a guarantee that this is what is installed, it’s a pretty good clue.

Got in and found that we are running no service packs. Now I know where I’m headed to resolve my licensing problem. Thanks

Download CONFIG.NLM from Novell’s Website. This will tell you service pack level as well as individual nlm versions.

Typing VERSION at the console will return a version number followed by a letter. The letter will indicate the support pack installed.

Support pack 5 for NW5.0 and Support pack 1 for NW5.1(and later) will now give you the exact support pack installed when you type version

At the server console’s command prompt, type “nwconfig”. Choose “Product Options”. Then choose “View/Configure/Remove installed products”. Scroll down through the displayed window to see what service pack has been installed (if any). Hit escape whenfinished to unload nwconfig.

Got this in the first response. Just took me a bit to really understand what I was reading. Wasn’t going far enough. We have no service packs loaded at this time

if you load nwconfig and look at the list of installed products it should show you the service pack number that is installed in the list of installed products. if there is no service pack it means that there is no SP installed.
