What is Remote Control

By northwood ·
What is Remote Control? I've been examining Terminal Server and notice it contains a feature called REMOTE Control.

Can anyone tell me exactly what it is and what it is used for?

Also, how do you implement it? When ever I check properties on the RDP connection, remote control is grayed out.

Help.

Remote Control is exactly what the name suggests. It allows you to take control of a terminal session.

Take a look at this article for more information.

Remote control is a feature which allows an administrator to take control of another Terminal Server session which was started by another user.

To test this feature, First log into terminal server.

Next create a second terminal server sessionas an administrator.

From the Terminal Server Manager snap-in, find the first session which you created. Then right-click on that session and you will find the REMOTE Control feature. Select it.

Now, on the first session, a window will pop-upwith the request by the administrator to Remote control. When that user clicks OK, the administrator will immediately have the same screen that the first user has.

This can be used as a learning tool, trouble-shooting a problem, or watching the user as they perform some action or use some application.

Hope this helps.
