What is this obscure machine?

by shanghai sam . Updated 24 years, 1 month ago

I have a All-in-one type machine here with the name Digital on the front. it has four 72-pin SIMM slots, onr PCI slot, though the machine is only 3 inches tall, a tiny little single-chip NCR scsi card in the PCI slot, what looks like a laptop size IDE controller on the mainboard, 287 pin CPU soldered direct to the mainboard and the heatsink looks to be BOLTED(!) direct to the CPU. thin 3.5″ floppy drive with 26 pin connector, 2 PC (type-2?) slots, 3 Flash chips, AT style power, but with midi-din (PS/2) key/mouse ports. Sound, VGA, Ethernet, Serial and Parallel onboard. Eight RAM chips (I assume they’re video) under the HDD cage. I can’t get it to start up with ANY combination of simms that I have access to. the guy I got it from said he thought it might be an Alpha CPU @ 166, and might need some type of parity ram. Please, somebody help me, I really don’t want it to go to waste sitting in a junk pile if it’s worth using.

What is it? What kind of RAM should I use? What OS and if it’s obscure, how do I get it? Might I be insanely lucky enough to find a manual in existence? Or should I try to sell it? or throw it away?

Thank you for even reading this, and considering.
