When I connect to the internet there is a long wait during which any action is delayed. It would appear that something is scanning or updating.
I have looked at task manager and WUAUCLT.EXE is active.
Is it this file?
I have performed several virus scans, nothing found.
Thank you

Workaround... sort of.

by AnsuGisalas In reply to Thank You both

Just go to the microsoft update page (you find a link to it in the safety or tools dropdown in the top right corner of IE, if you're using that).
That way you can update manually, and you'll know when it's done. After it's done, you can kill the process with an easy conscience.

Or, you can kill it, and just remember to update manually later. If you're in the middle of something.

Did you remember to give those nice people their thumbs by pushing the "mark as helpful" button? It's a courtesy :)

Windows Update client

by leichim In reply to What is WUAUCLT.EXE

It's the Windows update client software calling base to see if there anything worth updating.
Nothing to worry about.
