What should a backup server cost?

Looking for some hardware ideas here. I need a backup server with about 4 Terabyte of storage to backup to hard drives. I already have a tape changer and Veritas. Vendors are coming in from 5k to 15k. I want to backup to disk and then pump it to tape after the backups are done. Ideas?
