This is how I do it

Here is a Batch file that could be used to copy your Data to a central location. You could then burn it to CD/DVD with Nero or something similar. Modify it to suit your needs. If you don't want to use something rem it out with :: copy and paste between the ======= into Notepad and save it as bck.cmd. Modify set drive=g:\Backup to suit your needs.

Nice batch, JH. Also add desktop

by Churdoo In reply to This is how I do it

So add the following to JH's batch file:

%backupcmd% "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop" "%drive%\Desktop"

I suppose another option may be to use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to collect the files and settings from the original O/S to a temporary location.

Though I personally like JH's method versus the wizard -- more control and less black box-ish.

I think it's a ripper

by Jacky Howe In reply to Nice batch, JH. Also add ...

It's not one of my own though, I found it when I was looking for help on backing up to a Folder with the Date as the Folder Name. The one that I use for myself is suped up a bit as I am a creature of habit.

I find the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard cumbersome but it is another alternative.
