Anyone have the short answer to when you would use outlook vs goldmine vs act vs maximizer?

Choosing the right software can be tricky, especialyy in past years before the internet. Bottom line, make a list of your critical needs and visit the web for info. CNET does good comparisons and ratings.

I don't see that Outlook is in the same class as Act and Goldmine. Unlike Outlook, the others are "Contact Management" pkgs and do more with a database of your clients. Outlook is a good organizer with strong email and time mgt (e.g. reminders and notes) but not nearly as strong on contact mgt features of the others which generate things like business letters.

Visit the websites of the mfg's and compare features offered with your list of needs. Some products like Act will offer free trials.
