What with Internet Explorer 5.5 sp 2

By irutgers ·
I am coding with xhtml 1.0 strict and transitional dtd's. I have a .css entry img {border: none; border:0;} which works well for both Netscape 4.x+ and Internet Explorer 5.5 service pack 2. I am working in NT 4.0 SP 6. I recently upgraded my Internet Explorer to service pack 2 and have discovered that the spacer images are visible.

Has anyone else encountered this issue with Internet Explorer 5.5 service pack 2?

IE 5.5 sp2 and Windows 2000

by bosh2 In reply to What with Internet Explor ...

I've been having a similar problem where I have a relatively large image (439 px X 234 px) after which I have a <BR> tag and 3 other images below it. A 1 pixel line that allows the background color to show through appears after the <BR> tag. For some reason the images after the <BR> tag do not butt the bottom of the larger image.

I tried putting them in different rows (with VALIGN="top" in the <TD>'s) all to no avail. The only solution that seemed to work, was to make the large image a background image and put in place a 1 X 234 spacer gif as a place holder.

When I view the original page in IE 5.5 0 Updates and IE 5.5 SP1 -- I have no problems.

I don't know what is causing this problem!! But would love to know why and how to avoidit in the future.
