I was employed by an outsourcing company to work as helpdesk/2nd level support in a 300 person company close to home. I gave notice at my old job…two weeks later I turn up at the new place keen and eager to find that my new employer lost the support contract. They assure me that my job is secure… and it is… but here is the catch.
I now have to travel 2.5 hours each way to get the office that’s 5 hrs travel 8-9 hours work per day!! and I get home felling stuffed every night. I have been married for just 3 months and I don’t know if I want to carry on like this… but here is the other catch.
Because they lost the contract they have had to put me into a much more technical roll, in the last two weeks I have played with MS SBS, W2KProllout ( internal) and a new deployment of Norton Anti Virus to a client ( 2 servers, 35 workstations ) I have never done this sort of thing before and it is great experience!!
So, should I just keep going and soak up the experience or chuck it in to gain 4 hours per day of my life back??
