    “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?”

    Locked

    by charliespencer ·

    Way, way, way off topic.

During the opening credits of “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?”, the “Mystery, Inc.” gang is seen four times running from the right of the screen to the left. Of those four times, two are full color and two are in silhouette only.

The two full color sequences feature all five members of the gang, in the sequence Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby.

In the two silhouette sequences, Fred is missing entirely.

Astonishingly, I’ve been unable to locate any reference to this on the web or in Google Groups. Before I get desperate enough to load a newsgroup reader, does anybody here know why?

Our pavements are paved with paving stones.
Our roads are covered in tarmac.
And the streets in London are paved with gold!

          I thought everyone knew that.

      Narcolepsy

      by bizzo ·

In reply to “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?”

Over the years, due to late nights catching ghosts and demons etc, Fred’s sleep patterns have become rather out of sync with the usual day/night cycle, this has resulted in raised melatonin levels in Fred’s body. This means that during certain periods of darkness (the silhouette sequences especially) Fred’s pineal gland produces massive amounts of melatonin which in turn make Fred fall asleep. This is why he is absent from both the silhouette sequences during the opening credits.

Fortunately, these narcoleptic incidents don’t occur regularly as Fred is currently undergoing light treatment to try and stabilise his melatonin levels.

She thinks he called in sick the day they did the silhouette modeling because he was in a contract re-negotiation.

Please tell me I’m not (not) seeing things. Tape or DVR it and play it back.

I think it’s like the Beatles and the “Paul is dead” rumors of the late ’60’s.

I was going to post the Fred was the one that always wanted to split the group up. So his being missing was his character in the cartoon.

my son got older. From a young age the two of us would watch Saturday cartoons to gether. If I had to work on Saturday, he would catch me up on what happened with the cartoons. Wonderfull what differnt quality times can be with your kids.

Now I have grandkids, might do something similar. 😀
