I'm with you on that one! If only I could kiss arse a bit better or refrain from telling people the truth about their abilities I'd be a wealthier man.

I wouldn't have enjoyed myself as much though!

I'm hating the politics of IT. I've tried to play it and it's just not a fair game for anyone...except for upper management that have no respect for the people like me in the trenches.

Switching career roles

Moving from a help desk enivronment, something I have been doing for almost 5 years to a network operatins area. I have the necessary training and certification. The willingness to do the work and leave my career comfort zone

The biggest career challenges are all mental.

Disipline to do the right things, not simply the urgent.

Knowing the difference between being helpful and being right.

Stretching and going beyond your role in a contructive way.

Investing in your self as much as you do that last project.

Realizing that its not what people do or say, but your reaction to that that makes a leader.

There's more, but this is the essense. Most other skills can be taught or bought.
