When to Install ADC for Exchange 5.5

By mgonzales ·
We are in the process of testing to upgrade to Windows 2000 finally. We are also running Exchange 5.5. At what point during the upgrade should the Active Directory Connector be installed on the network?

You can install the ADC SchemaOnly first when you have the Active Directory up and running. (remember backup first).
Then install ADC service
Finally ADC connection agreements must be set up between your Exchange Containers and OUs in Active Directory.
I prefer using dedicated OUs to avoid a mix up with other userobjects and groups that are defined in AD.

You can install ADC, but your connection agreements must wait until you have the OUs in place.
If your Exchange 5.5 installation uses only the default recipients container you set up one connection agreement which synchronize all your Exchange mailboxes (Users in AD), distribution lists (Mail enabled groups in AD) and custom recipients (Contacts in AD) to one OU.
If you have defined new containers in E55 and sorted different object types into them, you should set up one agreement for each container you want to synchronize.

Does that mean the structure of OU and that needs to be completed prior to installing the ADC?
