In the interest of fairness lets hear about the times that consultants did NOT recommend windows as a solution. And then lets hear about how many clients followed that advice vs those that didnt and their respective outcomes.
I do not recommend MS or any proprietary products for that matter when a customer has an extremely limited budget (read slightly more than hardware cost only) and doesn’t want the hassle of dealing with licenses or worrying about piracy issues. I also do not recommend proprietary solutions when there is some doubt about the longterm viability or support of a product from a particular vendor.
