Where did OUTLOOK go?

By lmayeda ·
I setup a new XP for a user with Outlook Express then decided that I had to install OUTLOOK in order to import a .pst file from another computer. User likes Outlook Express but on her old computer I used Outlook to create a .pst file. On the new computer I can't find OUTLOOK to setup a new account. Where did it go and how can I set it up again? OR .... how can I import messages from a .pst file into Outlook Express?

Look in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office for OUTLOOK.EXE

If that's there, it should be easy to find the shortcut from the Start menu.

I did a search for Outlook.exe and found it in C:\Program files
Microsoft office\Office11. After I double clicked on it and did a basis setup, it then appeared on the Start, Programs , Microsoft Office List. Now I can import the .pst file. I swear, I looked via Explorer but I must have just missed seeing it. Thanks

OE is capable of importing PST files.

Open OE.
Click on File,
Import,
Messages.

Select Outlook as the type.

Browse to the PST file.

OE does not allow import of the .pst file unless Outlook is setup and I couldn't find Outlook to set it up. See above.

You can import outlook messages into Express no probs:

File/Import - choose outlook files (pst), off you go, no probs. Good luck.

To find outlook, browse c drive, microsoft office directory, outlook icon should be in there, copy this to the desktop.

Thanks for your response. See answer 1. I was trying to import from a .pst file from an Outlook on another network PC. XP has changed Outlook ... adding a business manager option which I blew off when first set the email up and then it "disappeared" from the program files.
