Where is MS Backup?

By galahad04 ·
I am running Windows Millenium Edition and tried to install the Microsoft Backup program that comes with Windows 9x. However, I was unable to locate it under the Windows Setup tab of the Add/Remove Programs icon under the Control Panel. If this program is still available under Windows Me, where can I install it from?

Another negative about Win ME.
To quote the KnowlegeBase article:
"This issue occurs because Windows Me does not install the Backup tool.

RESOLUTION
==========

There are two ways to work around this issue and use the Backup tool if you are
using the Retail or Upgrade version of Windows Me, if you have an Original
Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), sometimes referred to as pre-installed, version of
Windows Me, please see the note in the Important section below:

- Install the Backuptool in Windows Me by double-clicking the Msbexp.exe file
in the Add-ons\Msbackup folder on the Windows Me CD-ROM..."

MS Backup is no longer used in ME, as you have discovered. It has been replaced by Compressed Folders. Full details on using Compressed Folders can be found in Win ME help under archiving files.
