Where is the folder?

By sw723 ·
When i do a " find files and folders" I see a folder with all my desktop items in it named, of course, "desktop". It shows to be at C:\Windows.
When I do an "explore" or a "browse" to try to back it up, I cannot find the "desktop" folder.

Try c:\documents and settings\*user* and there should be a desktop folder in each user's folder

My guess is that it's hidden.
What OS are you using?
My answer differs depending on the version of Windows.

Depending on the version of windows, depends on where the folder is. But if you have the path in as c:\windows I beleive you are running 9x platform. In which case all you need to do is open the control panel and find folder options (I dont remember exactly where it is). Go to the View tab, and there are 2 or 3 options to hide files, make sure that none are hidden.

If your Folder Options in Windows Explorer is set to hide system files, it might not be visible.

Open Windows Explorer, click View menu in W98 or Tools in W2K, click Folder Options, click View tab and select the "show hidden files" box. Close window, re-open it and you should be able to see it.
