compaq deskpro 4000, win98 4.10, canon bjc-4300, client machine on a win2000 server network, 2 internal hard drives, 1 CDROM drive, 192 MB RAM.
inexplicably, while trying to print to the shared canon bjc-4300, got an error msg stating it was not available. further investigation revealed that i had no lpt1 port. tried reinstalling windows, removing and reinstalling the ecp printer port. Nada!
It only keeps installing the ecp printer port without lpt1 and with the dreaded exclamation before it in the device manager.
the other ports available are com 1 and 2.
Advice, Suggestions?
