Where windows record installation info

I got a problem of removing a windows installation information in order to reinstall the same software program again.It record a product ID of previous installation that causes some run time error. I uninstall through conrol panel and also try with Mcaffe Uninstaller V5.10 but those info still remaining. I use Regedit.exe and findout that keyword , I also could not find it. So I would like to know , where windows hide all these info. Note that I use windows ME as OS .
