We currently have a star network within our campus. we have procured a Vblock 240 recently and our current core switch which is DGS-3627G Gigabit Ethernet Switch procured 6 years ago. it is now full. We could not uplink the 10gb uplinks to this switch as the local supplier does not have the addon cards.
We are currently getting design and the quotes from vendors for cisco but the cost is way to high for my management to get it as its costing and average of USD 100,000/-. our requirements are as follows:
30 port- 1gb fibre 30 sfp multimode
10 port- 10gb ports 6 sfp multimode
16 port- 1gb copper if its interchangable on the same port than to include 16 copper tranceivers.
We were quoted the catalyst 4507 switch with the above configuration. we are also looking at DELL and Dlink for the cost factors and our budget is USD 30,000/-
