Which is difficult

Which is more difficult Software Development or Software testing.

Hmmm... IMHO they both can be equally difficult. I would tend to lean towards Software development because of all the planning and flowcharting etc that must be done before one line of code is written. But software testing/debugging is a very tedious task too.

I would think development would be the toughest, as just about any fool can break it. Flow charts and debugging can be a real pain, but it seems that testers can always find a way to break it and foul it up in one way or another.

Testing gets the vote in my book. Different kinds of difficulty apply, certainly, but I've always had more difficulty getting full testing done. Too often, users want a product rolled out even though it still is in testing, or a good set of test data isn't available, or your guinea pigs aren't bright enough to realize that it's not enough to see that the program gives them an answer--they need to make sure it's the RIGHT answer.
