Which One Is Better? Face ID or Touch ID…

    by xtdyolra ·

Few months ago, Kuo tempered our hopes concerning the return of Touch ID. The tech will maybe not come back this year. But what if, instead of Touch ID, we get a improved Face ID?

With a more precise scan, and a improved AI, Face ID could work even with a mask, by scanning the distance between the eyes, the ears and some other particular points of our faces.

What do you think about this ?

I have connections with others in this field. They had to implement better face and mask recog. It’s a thing companies are doing. There is nothing much to discuss here. The companies have to want it along with the users and need.

Be aware that bio recog is a long discussion. I’ll be short about it.

      Touch ID is better

Touch ID is better than face ID while the environment is not right for scanning the face like, without light, the face ID wouldn’t work. But it doesn’t matter when using touch ID even though the environment is darker. You can reach your phone it is possible to easily unlock it without the need for your passcode. You may run into problems if your hands are dirty, but you probably wouldn’t want to be handling your mobile device then anyway. There’s something to be said about being able to work with your hands.

Touch ID is faster, yeah it just is. If you think about the complexity of face id it’s not really a surprise. Touch ID works in 99% of situations compared to maybe 98% for Face ID. Another one is when the phone is on a desk, although it works pretty well at different angles, touch ID is just more convenient.

Privacy angle? Never enable Face or Touch ID.

Here in this country you can keep your passcode to yourself but with Face or Touch ID the current laws do not stop others from using these to unlock your phone.

As such, those that want privacy and security would never use Face or Touch ID.

Apple iPhone XS. The Apple iPhone XS is still considered the best smartphone to buy if you intend to use Face Unlock as a secure measure rather than a gimmick to unlock your device.

Honestly, in my opinion, FaceID is great and a good choice. It works where TouchID doesn’t work but it also fails where touchid would work. Additionally, FaceID is really good, but it has very significant shortcomings that TouchID did not have.

Can you explain why you think it’s “honestly great and a good choice” while it has “very significant shortcomings”?

I’d say that having very significant shortcomings makes it a bad choice.

What, in your opinion, are those shortcomings?

      Face ID or Touch ID

Security researchers mostly agree that Face ID is less secure than a fingerprint. That’s partly because it maps your facial features, and often, facial features are not unique.

Touch ID is better that Face ID.

Touch ID is much better than Face ID, it gives problem to scan in low light.
