Which toolset to learn?

By eirez ·
Hi guys,
I am currently a PeopleSoft ERP developper. Over the last three years most of my work has entailed system customization and integration between PeopleSoft ERP and 3rd party software at various companies.

I am now a full time system developper at a company (part of the MIS staff) and am supporting all their PeopleSoft systems.

I am concerned I pigeon-holed myself into PeopleSoft and would like to know what you all think would be a good diversification of my development skills.

For example, should I focus on Server-side code development, Web services, XML, and SOAP? Or should I get into Web-site development, portals, portlets, etc..

Which toolset should I use? Does it matter?

Where do you guys see the industry moving to?

I thank all of you who respond in advance.
e.

client server

learn as many different ways to implement client server applications, for as many different uses.

web portal development is client server, most db driven apps, even specialised apps can often be best implemented as client server apps.

the biggest craze right now is using the .net framework for this. ( it's being over used actually, like using animation software to run websites ( flash )
