Which will get me hired faster as a Web Developer?

    by Anonymous ·

1- contribute to open source projects in GitHub (never tried it before)

2- build just the frontend of a website for someone for free

3- build multiple small useful chrome extensions (I have a couple of good ideas )

4- build a personal website and use popular frameworks and techniques that the job market requires the most (take a lot of time)

knowing that I can do all of these, which one will get me hired faster and proves my skills as a web developer to companies hiring?

Note: I have substantial experience in C# WPF EF MVVM, I also have a couple of small to medium personal desktop app projects!

Sadly I think you would have to do all of those.

But for item 3, that’s fairly advanced and is more about programming skills and not so much a Web Developer.

Item 2 is a bad precedent since it’s free and you sell or get what you pay for. If the work is worth something, payment is expected.

first, developing chrome extensions require knowledge of Html/CSS/JavaScript which are all needed frontend technologies in the the web domain (I already done it and it’s fairly easy…I told you I have substantial experience in C# and thus in programming)

second, developing the frontend for someone for free has some advantages like getting experience in a real world problems plus the hosting will be on theme.

also building it for free doesn’t necessarily mean that the work will be bad especially in my case (I know JavaScript very well so that leaves Html/CSS which I tried before but that was a long time a go so I need to work on it more and also lets not forget React which I never tried before)
