Why is it that out of XP Home & XP Pro when ever there is a problem it has always been XP Home? Is there any difference between the two and why is that XP Home is always the one to fall over with dramas. I'm referring to home users that run one or the other. I have my views only based on what?s comming into my workshop.

Home users are probably the most dangerous, they load every game/utility/internet find under the sun whether built to run on the operating system or not. XP pro generally goes to work and as such has standards to stop people from loading anything they want on it under fear of job loss.
I'ld have to say that just the difference in how the operating system itself gets handled/ shut down/ maintained would also have an effect that would cause the home user more problems. Also as home users we generally don't lease for three years and then get a new setup from IT.

I find the same thing. XP Home is always having more problems that XP Pro.

Why? XP Home users are normally personal users and they do tend to mess things up. Where XP Pro users are more business users who only load what they need and nothing more.

XP Home computers come into my shop for repair of software problems because the kids who use them are not afraid to load things on them. Most of the time the software damage is such that only a system restore back to factory defaults fix it.

I tend to agree with the other postings.

I have a PC with XP Pro, and my son has one with XP Home.
We are having no problems with either.

However, the average XP home user is not as PC literate as the home user that will install XP Pro.

Onthe home market, XP Home must have a lot higher market penetration. (Just from the mass market PCs.)
If 75% of the home PCs have XP Home, and 25% have XP Pro, even by averages, you should expect to see more problems with PCs with XP Home installed.
Factor in that the users with XP Pro are apt to have more PC knowledge than the users with XP Pro, and I would expect PCs with XP Home to make up 80% to 95% of service work.
