Why

To whom it may concern.
Please explain why I have to give my credit card details over the web only to have you send me a hard copy of the bill to have me reissue my card details.
Seeing as we both preach security and plugging security holes it seams strange that either you do not believe what you preach (Don?t trust your own web site and if this is the case why would I purchase any of your books because obviously they are worthless) or you just want me to needlessly flaunt my details to increase the risk to me of those details being compromised.
So in future should I not supply my details on your website (because it is compromised obviously) But will you still issue me with the hard copy (because I can?t complete the forms without my details).
Do you want purchases or is this some type of a scam?

This seems to be the only forum on this site to contact you.

Hello,

The forums on the Tech Republic site are peer forums.

They are loosely monitored by the TR staff.

To contact someone at TR about issues with Product Orders, click on the Help button near the upper right corner of most TR pages.

Click on product orders.

Then click on "here" in Click here to contact us.

For product issues, the link is:

You checked the wrong box.

by jim.mcdonnell In reply to Why

Dear C.J. Wilson,

I beleive you checked the wrong box while checking out. We have two payment options, credit card payment and "Bill Me" which means we send you a bill in the mail and when you send us the payment we ship your order.

Apparently you must have entered your credit card number into our secure shopping cart at check-out but checked the "Bill Me" radio-button, thus your credit card number was never recorded and a paper bill was produced and mailed.

The only other reason you would have received a bill via mail would be if the credit card you used was either flagged for possible security problems or over the limit and the charge refused.

Sorry for the inconvenience. We will keep this record on file and consider it when we next update our shopping cart. Should you have any problems in the future, please contact our customer support team via this link: http://techrepublic.com.com/5112-22-0.html?subject=Product+Orders.

Again, sorry you had difficulty and we hope you will afford us another opportunity to service your needs.

Thank you,
Jim at CNET Marketing
