Why are permissions not working?

By MakeItSo ·
Hi All,
I have had to reinstall W2k Server after a HD failure and I am having trouble getting folder permissions to work for user home folders. All the user data is on a separate shared HD (F: shared as Users) so I have recreated each user and given them full control over their own folders and sub-folders (having removed the SID that was their original username) and read/execute, list folder contents & read permission at the top level. They can now read their data but can not write. The owner of each folder is shown as Administrator. The home folders were created manually by an administrator.

Hello,

have you set the Shares-Permission to Read/Write or full-access for each user?

The share permission was set to read only and changing this to full control has solved the problem.

Verify that you don't have share permissions conflicting with NTFS permissions in which case the most restrictive would apply.
