Why can’t DSL Auto-connect work for D-Link router?

by abbyd9 . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

I currently have Cincinnati Bell’s Zoomtown DSL service in my home. I have two computers but only one is connected to the DSL via a Westell 6100 modem with a single DSL port. I bought a D-Link DSL-2540B modem/router combo with four DSL ports so both computers can connect to the Internet.

The problem is the installation software with the D-Link unit. After all instructions were followed the DSL Auto-connect cycles thru 12 combinations of VPI/VCI settings and fails to complete the set up. The manual set up is too complex and so far I am unable to get the protocol settings from Zoomtown. Can anyone explain what causes this problem?

Thanks,
