Why did Apple remove all of the animations

So I know this isn’t very recent, but taking a look back at some older macOS versions I noticed it a lot. It started when Mojave came out, where animations like checkboxes, opening Safari etc were removed, and they would just appear abruptly. I feel that without them it just seems more like Windows. I really want to know why they did it, because it seems like a waste of time just removing animations whereas Windows is now adding them.

It’s one of the things I prefer in macOS over Windows tbh. It makes the OS feel snappier when things just appear rather than fading in and out (like windows) or some other animation. Since Vista I always disabled them
