Why do the FSMO roles on Server 2008 R2 cause shares to drop?

By DLogan ·
I just recently setup a Windows 2008 R2 file & print server. This server has also been promoted to a domain controller. I transferred the FSMO roles to this server from my 2nd DC. As soon as the FSMO roles have been moved to the file server it starts randomly dropping client connections to file shares. Then once I remove the FSMO roles the client share mappings remain stable. I cannot find any explanation for this behavior or any corrective steps. There are no definitive event log entries captured on either the clients or the server to indicate any core causes. Please let me know if you have experienced this same issue and if you can offer any suggestions.
