Why does my system keep locking up?

By hubovetz ·
Hi everybody, read a few other post here with the same problem but didn?t find an answer.

I won?t go into too much detail as my system is a basic work machine. A motherboard with original memory, a CD-Rom, two extra fans, a 3.5 floppy (not connected). No sound or graphic card. I recently did a complete reinstall of XP ( a custom version this time) because of this problem. All drivers have been updated as well. The problem continues continues sometimes even during boot process.

Are there any new solutions or reasons for this problem_

Well assuming that this is a Patched version of XP

and that the system is falling over and freezing without any BSOD Messages I would be looking at the Power Supply as a possible culprit.

Quite often when the Capacitors in the Power Supplies start to fail the system will just hang and stop responding. A replacement Name Brand Power Supply generally cures this.
