why don’t I get emails after someone posts a reply?

why don’t I get emails after someone posts a reply?
How can I turn that on? I am new here. I have always noticed and checked (I think all 3 times) the box near the bottom of the question area that says Notify Me. But I have never gotten an answer notification and I have checked in my gMail account’s spam filter folder and they aren’t in there. Hmmmm ….
Can anyone please help me understand and fix this problem? Also, how do I remove a Project from the Project drop down list in My Workspace?
