why Internet is getting down?

Hi all,

we are using a satellite connection for an internet cafe of 40 computers. The problem is we had less customers before & all was working fine, Now what happens is when any of the customer opens youtube it starts giving request time out. I m pinging it continuously. why it is happening while we were using youtube beofore we never had problem with it. Could you please help me figure out why it is happening>>>???

The problem with streaming video is not the file size, it's the rate of delivery. Streaming video sites like youtube try to get that file down to the client as quickly as possible, using as much bandwidth as possible.

So your HTTP connection is becoming saturated.

The solution is that you need to implement QOS on your edge router to limit the bandwidth that streaming video takes.

Do you have a Cisco router at the edge? If so, it's fairly simple to create a policy map and allocate bandwidth-by-protocol.
