The IOS image and the bootloader image are 2 different things. You only upgraded the IOS image but not the bootloader image.

Do I need to?

Thanks for the help, does that mean I need to update that. When does the BOOTLDR come into play and how do I change it?

No need

As long as you can boot from the IOS image you want to run, no need to upgrade the bootldr.
