I am currently having problems when various users open Windows Media Player 11 and they are receiveing a pop-up message that says “Offline Files – Working offline: You are no longer connected to ‘server’. You can continue working normally. Click this icon to view status.”
The user is able to right-click the offline icon and click syncronize which shows the synchronization status window and states that sync has completed successfully. After a few minutes the Offline status window pop-ups again and says that they are once again working offline.
This is true each and everytime they open MP11, they receive the message regardless if they are playing an audio/video file or if MP11 is just sitting idle.
Oh, and here’s the kicker – users can continue to listen to streaming audio and surf the internet but the are unable to connect to the local network – ie: \\server\folder
Only after they resync are they able to browse the local network again.
We are running Windows 2003 servers in a domain environment and all users are using Windows XP SP2 with all the latest updates from Microsoft.
Has anyone else experienced this similar problem and is there a way to correct it? Any and all help on this subject is greatly appreciated!! This problem is driving me and my users nuts!!!!!
