Why is my intra-network speeds so slow?

By dknape ·
I have a four PC network comprising of the following OS's:
1x Windows Vista
2x Windows XP Pro
1x Windows Home Server (2003 SBS)

I am very tired of it taking hours or even days to transfer any amount of data. I generally use memory sticks or DVD's to transfer data between computers.

My Internet speeds are very respectable, reaching 4963kpbs down and 622kpbs up. Yet, my transfer speeds between computers on the wire are between 30kpbs to 80kpbs!

I have updated the drivers for the Intel PRO/1000 NIC's. I have tried both Auto-Negotiate and 100/Full on each of the computers. I have tried disabling the Windows and OneCare firewalls.

I am at a loss. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My Vista computer is my primary PC.

I am using a Netgear WGR614 router.
