Why is our Outlook crashing so often?

by tomsal . Updated 23 years, 7 months ago

Hi everyone. I have an ongoing realibility issue with Outlook, which is our chosen mail client for our company. The issue is that Outlook (97 is the version btw) just seems horribly unstable. I’m getting very tired of re-installing or trouble shooting Outlook 97 “mapisp 32” and “Interface not responding” errors.

We been going on for a good 6-8 months now with this problem. At first I was just dealing with it (I found plenty of “solutions” on Microsoft’s knowledge base — including how to replace key .dll files or how to clean all files and then re-install Outlook fresh, they are all band aids and not cures) now its plain ridiculous.

We use to have about 1 client a month have outlook crash on them, now we average about 1 per WEEK.Our client config is nothing complex…each client simply has RightFax 8.0, Office 97 (Access, Word, Excel, Outlook) and a Lanier print manager installed — some clients have PowerPoint installed as well. You might want to know our mail server is Imail 7.13.

Everything would be fine if it weren’t for that stupid *&$)(#*$)(#*$()*!!! outlook crashing left and right? Companies much bigger than our 90 employee company must be using Outlook without problems…what are we doing?
