Why is this file locked for editing in my SAN?

    Locked

    Hi,

Currently I am having lots of trouble when editing (renaming) a file in my SAN, one of the users is trying to rename a file in her network drive, she get??s this error:

You require permission from (her account) to make changes to this file.

I have reviewed the security settings and checked that she has got full control of the file.

I also noticed that the folder where this file is contained is a “read only” one, I tried to change that from her account and also from the file server but it seems that it doesn??t save the changes.

So I would like to know if there is anybody in this community who can help me out with this.

    I appreciate your valuable help.

    Alejandro

What filesystem and OS is the SAN using?

If this is a commercial product, I suggest you check with the vendor’s support site, especially if the OS and filesystem are proprietary and built by the vendor.

Obviously, the problem is that the file or directory is read-only. If you have administrator control over the SAN, set this to read/write. Remember that user account permissions are entirely separate things from filesystem permissions. E.g., in Windows, user account permissions are separate from NTFS permissions.
