Why is this happening?

When I would go to a site or search engine, ie. Hotmail and/or Google, I would type in my user name and tab to the next field and the computer would freeze for 20-30 seconds before allowing to type the password and then freeze again. The same would happen if I go to Google and type in search criteria, it would freeze for 20-30 seconds before proceeding. Also, just before installing the new drive, when opening Network Neighborhood I would get script errors, I researched this and found a solution on Microsoft support but the solution did not work, and when I went to hotmail it would freeze on every page until I would CTRL-ALT-DEL and end task on msmsg for every new page that opened (annoying). I ran virus scans, McAfee Pro and Norton’s – novirus or so they claim and I do regular updates. Reinstalling Internet Explorer did not work. If I reformatted the drive it would not do this for about a week. But after continuous formats the problem appeared in less time. The CPU fan was also bad which I originally thought was the hard drive dieing and have since replaced the fan but don’t think the fan was the issue because I could play games for hours with no issues. I use Kazaa for downloads but scan for virus before opening files that aredownloaded to a different partition on the drive. I refuse to use Kazaa anymore. But this would still happen after formatting and not using Kazaa. Don’t know why this was happening. It almost seemed like my keystrokes were being monitored. I have a cable service behind a Siemens router with Firewall enabled. The other computer on the network has no issues.

Sorry so long, just wanted to provide as much info as possible.
