Why is vSphere Client of ESXi 4.1 update 1 not installing on Windows Vista?

I am trying to install the VMWares vSphere Client on my Windows Vista machine. I downloaded it following the link that comes up from the web page when I point my browser to ESXi server. However, on launching the installer, Windows Vista asks if this action is allowed (which it does for all installers) and then nothing happens. I initially disabled and then completely uninstalled my anti-virus software.
I am trying to install VMware-viclient-all-4.1.0-345043.exe and my ESXi server is running ESXi 4.1 update 1. My Windows machine is Vista 32 bit. I have .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 4 Client Profile installed on my machine.
What could be going wrong?
