Why might employer block TechRepub site?

By CMB from Omaha ·
Hi All,

For the past week or so I can't access TechRepublic from my workplace (a community college). I don't get an error message or anything--the site just does not come up, as if the servers were extremely busy or something.

I tried putting TechRepublic into my Trusted Sites list on Internet Explorer; accepting all cookies; temporarily disabling SpyWare Blaster; using a different PC. None of those actions helped.

Does anyone know why an organization might want to block TechRepublic? If so, I need to know about it before I contact our IT shop so I can be prepared for an argument. :) Thanks in advance.

Maybe you spend too much time answering questions when you have other things to do?

You could be asking questions like: I've forgotton my admin password, where can I get a boot disk that allows me to reset......

Or you could be spending valuable working hours on the net....

To much attention to this site from the admins - try to find out more about the Firewalls/site filtering
