why XP automatically duplicate local drive?

By Lub111999 ·
My window XP automatically duplicates the c drive recently periodically and labels them using all the letters. Then my USB drives will not be reorganized by the window. I suspect it is infected by a virus or malware. But I used several software to check it, and did not find any. Anyone has experience on it? Please help.

And Malwarebytes available free here

After you have installed and updated Malware Bytes reboot the system and start in Safe Mode. Run the Scans from there and see what if anything is shown.

If you are unable to install Malwarebytes the system is infected with something that was designed to defeat it's removal so you need to use a Boot Rescue Disc any of the ones spoken about here should do but you run the risk of stopping the system from booting. So you should backup all your Data & Settings before proceeding.

Personally I find F Secure a very good product to use for nasty infections so you may like to start with that if required.
