Wi-Fi Connection on Siemens SX66

By McIntyreM ·
I just ordered and received the new Siemens SX66 Pocket PC Phone and am enjoying it greatly. However, I am having some difficulty with the Wireless 802.11b card that is built in. I have given the card a set IP address and defined the Default gateway as my Wireless Router, and have also set the the DNS entry to the proper setting. However, it doesn't seem to be consistently keep the connection. The same problem ocurrs, even if I remove the static IP and set it to an automatic IP. Is there anyone that can help me with this issue? Thanks.

It seems that the wireless card is not able to establish a proper wireless connection with the router/access point. Please follow the steps given below to resolve the issue:

1: Try changing the channel on both the wireless connecting devices.By default the two would communicate on the channel no.6.You may change it to 1 or 11 {these are non interfering channels}.
2: Check for any devices or home appliances that may be causing interference with the connecting devices.
3: Verify the connectivity with the devices placed close to one another.Disable WEP encryption at the initial stage of establishing connectivity. The link may have lower speeds due to overhead because of encryption.
4: Try with the short preamble instead of the long one.You need to make this change on the base station as well as the adapter.

Hope this helps.

After reading your message, I did some more trial and error experimenting. My access point was already using channel 11, but I switched it to 6 and removed the encryption. That seemed to work with no problem. Though, I wasn't happy about removing the encryption settings. Thus, I tried a few more changes, creating a new network key and setting it to automatic. In short, I finally got it working the way I want it too. Thanks for the tips.
