    wifi

    by danielmccall3 ·

I need my wifi dongle to be able to see all the wifi networks near me physically. It used to be able to do this, unknown changes have caused it to only see my network.

The wifi adapter will connect to my network when I tell it and will show it as available when scanning, but no other networks show up despite them previously showing up with this exact same setup. And my phone can see MANY networks.

I normally use a wired connection, but some websites I use verify your physical location by cross-referencing the nearby wifi networks. But I am not unable to even see the names of my neighbor’s networks.

Any ideas or tips are greatly appreciated.

      It’s either hardware or software.

To see if it’s hardware, try another dongle or use this dongle on another PC or laptop (disable the built-in WiFi for the experiment) at the same location.

To see if it’s software boot from a Linux disk or stick (free to make, doesn’t do anything to your current Windows install).
