Wild Tangent...SpyWare??

By cyberghost_1 ·
I have Adware and Spybot S&D, both show hundreds of Wild Tangent instances. When it comes to deleting spyware and adware, what does Wild Tangent fall under? Is it safe to delete these items using Adware and SpyBot? What are the reprocutions? Do I really even need Wild Tangent Web Driver? This program takes up about 80% of listed items in both programs. What is recommended?

To expound a little on Oz's answer, which is correct about removal.

Some PC vendors, most notably HP, are including Wild Tangent on their consumer PCs. I have not noticed it being a major problem like some other adware/spyware programs.

My advice is that if you use it, let it stay and remove if you don't use. You can bypass detection in Spybot by running in advanced mode and selecting Settings then Ignore Products. In Ad Aware simply check and choose ignore.

I get it. PC: 64Mb RAM, 700MHz Celeron, and onboard Intel Extreme Graphics. Compaq Presario 5000 (Model 5BW313) I don't have any online games, except for Starcraft BroodWar. Any other games that I have tried to play, on or offline, don't seem to work very well or not at all. I have enough trouble with RAM, withought playing games. What should I do? SHOULD I UNINSTALL IT OR KEEP IT, WHAT DIFERENCE WILL IT MAKE?????

One other thing that you may want to keep in mind is that Wild Tangent will continually attempt to signal back to a remote host. This can be a series of time running from 5-10 second to several minute intervals. The two problems associated are, security-it is an open packet going out of your system if not blocked and traffic-not a big deal if only one PC but if you have a larger number going through the same wires and out you can experience performance degridation.
