WILL NOT BOOT.

MY COMPUTER WILL NOT BOOT UP.I GET "WINDOWS/ROOT/SYSTEM32/FILE MISSING OR CORRUPT",I ALSO GET A BRIEF "BOOT INI FILE" MESSAGE.WHEN I TRY TO USE MY WINDOWS XP STARTUP CD TO DO A RECOVERY CONSOLE I RECIEVE A MESSAGE STATING "HARD DRIVE
MISSING OR NOT CONNECTED PLEASE CK CONNECTIONS".I ALSO GET THE SAME MESSAGE IF I TRY TO REINSTALL XP FROM THE CD,BUT WHEN I PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC CK ON MY HARD DRIVE EVERYTHING PASSES.WHAT SHOULD I DO TO GET THIS THING TO BOOT SO I CAN REPAIR IT.

Well, for starters

What kind of hard drive and what kind of PC?

If this is a SCSI hard drive, for example, you may need to load the drivers for the scsi adaptor when the XP CD loads.

please don't type all in caps
