If your motherboard

by Jacky Howe In reply to Will this help?

will support the 9800 Nvidia GeForce GFX go for it. If your Operating System is only 32bit the maximum amount of RAM that can be installed is 4Gb. But keep in mind that only around 3Gb is all that will be used. You already have that and it will be plenty with a card like the 9800.

Remember that the 3.25 GIG Limit on 32 Bit OS's

by OH Smeg In reply to If your motherboard

Also includes the Video Card as well as the System RAM.

So if you add a 1 GIG Video Card and use a 32 Bit OS you do not need any more than 3 GIG of System Ram configured as 2 X 1 GIG and 2 X 512 MEG. That way you will retail your Dual Chanel Memory and get the best performance.

Another factor

by Jacky Howe In reply to If your motherboard

that could come into play here is your (PSU) Power Supply Unit. You really need something with at least 500 + watts. I would be looking at 550-650 Watts. The more wattage the better. Antec make a good PSU.

Remember that CPU/M'Board saying that they are 64 Bit

by OH Smeg In reply to its

Doesn't mean that the OS loaded is 64 Bit. The Designation of the CPU/M'Board is just that what it can run not what the computer is running. Most Windows Systems today are 32 Bit as that is what is widely supported by the Makers of individual hardware.

However if you are running a 64 Bit OS then go for it as you will appreciate the added RAM.
